Imigran (sumatriptan) is available in 50mg and 100mg tablets or 6mg injection. Prescription Medicine for the treatment of migraine attacks and cluster headaches. Imigran tablets are fully funded; Imigran injection is fully funded with special criteria. Use strictly as directed. Recommended daily dose is 50mg orally (some patients may require 100mg) or 6mg as a single injection. Maximum dose in 24hrs is two 6mg injections or 300mg orally. Do not exceed recommended doses. Do not take Imigran if: you are allergic to anything in the preparation, taking medicines called monoamine oxidase inhibitors, have had a heart attack, have angina, uncontrolled blood pressure, have a history of stroke or severe liver problems. Tell your doctor if you have: heart problems, blood pressure problems, kidney or liver problems, allergy to sulphur drugs, epilepsy, or if you are taking any other drugs for migraine, or if you are taking any antidepressants or other medicines or herbal remedies. Side Effects (common): tingling, flushing, tightness in any part of the body, dizziness, fatigue, drowsiness, nausea and vomiting, slow or fast heart beats.
